Student Support and Pastoral Care
Wellbeing
At St Peter’s Girls’ School, student wellbeing is defined as having a positive sense of self-worth, the confidence and skills to embrace challenges and a sense of belonging to our community.
Through a holistic approach to their educational journey, our girls are supported to maintain healthy habits and routines; to challenge themselves for continual growth and to reflect to ensure they develop into young people who are courageous, creative and compassionate.
Wellbeing
Students engage in bespoke wellbeing sessions each week that focus on a range of topics relevant to each cohort. At Saints Girls, our wellbeing program is called #EMPOWHER.
In the Junior School, students take part in the URSTRONG program which focuses on developing personal, social and emotional growth. The program equips our girls with the skills and confidence to develop healthy relationships, while also providing students, parents and staff with common language around friendships.
Wellbeing lessons in the Junior, Middle and Senior Schools occur twice a week and can be facilitated by the Home Group teacher, Head of Year, Head of Sub-School or School Psychologist. Topics are tailored to ensure they are age appropriate and relevant for the girls. Student survey data is also used allowing student voice and agency over their learning. Guest speakers and facilitators are utilised each year to further enhance the wellbeing offerings for students.

Growing Leaders, Inspiring Confidence
At St Peter’s Girls’ School, leadership development is a vital part of our wellbeing approach. We intentionally embed opportunities for students to grow as confident, capable leaders through a wide range of experiences and activities across every year level. Through cross-cohort activities, sister chats, service learning initiatives, and explicit leadership units, our girls are supported to develop skills such as communication, collaboration, resilience, self-awareness and goal setting. Students have the opportunity to apply for and undertake a variety of leadership positions across all areas of the school and in each year level.
Pastoral Care
Student wellbeing is an important aspect of life at St Peter’s Girls’ School and Pastoral Care is provided on a number of levels.
Junior School students belong to a Class, while Middle and Senior School students are allocated to Home Groups. Home Group/Class teachers take a leading role in the personal, spiritual and educational care of our students. The School facilitates close communication between subject teachers, Heads of Sub-Schools, Heads of Year Levels and Home Group/Class teachers in order to provide the best individual care.
In the Senior years, Home Group allocation is based on the School House system. The girls stay with the same Home Group teacher for their three Senior years which fosters House pride and continuity of support.
Chapel Services are a key component of our Pastoral Care, embodying our Anglican values and principles. They are held throughout each term, giving our girls the ability to develop and strengthen spiritual connections.
St Peter’s Girls has a clinical psychologist on staff in the role of School Counsellor who offers a confidential counselling service to all students, parents and staff. If the School Counsellor is urgently required, special appointments can be accommodated.
