Reception to Year 6
Junior School
Our Junior School is dedicated to nurturing young minds in a supportive and creative environment.
With a vibrant and inclusive learning environment, we empower each girl to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally while fostering a love for learning, creativity, and community.
A Powerful Start for Future-Ready Learners
We believe the early years of education are some of the most powerful. Our Junior School lays the foundation for a lifelong love of learning; nurturing confident, curious and creative young minds.
More than a place to learn, our Junior School is a vibrant, values-led community where girls are encouraged to explore their world, express themselves and support one another. Our students receive responsive and personalised wellbeing support, as well as specialist teacher programs and a variety of extra-curricular activities.
Our Curriculum
Our curriculum is based on the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), designed to develop curious, capable and globally minded learners.
Throughout the year, girls complete six Units of Inquiry that spark deep thinking, encourage healthy risk-taking and promote reflection. This curriculum is carefully designed to help our students become confident communicators, thoughtful collaborators and principled young people who care about their impact in the world.
Beyond the Books
We believe an enriching education extends beyond the classroom. We encourage girls to discover their interests and passions in a variety of settings, from sport to the arts and more.
Specialist Programs: Our students engage with specialist programs in Music, Languages, PE and more, providing a well-rounded education.
Languages: From their very first year, our students are taught languages by specialist teachers who also mentor older students, ensuring early exposure to high-quality instruction and global perspectives.
Co-curricular and Extra-curricular: A broad selection of activities across sport and performing arts allows every girl to build confidence and uncover individual interests.
URStrong: Our wellbeing program implemented in the Junior School to support the students, teachers and families. Students are taught the skills and language to assist in establishing and maintaining healthy relationships while also increasing their resilience.
The Junior School experience at St Peter’s Girls allows students to thrive academically while exploring their passions outside traditional curriculum.

Life in our Junior School
Mid-Year Intake
Flexible entry means the right start for every child. We offer two intakes per year for our Reception classes, giving families more flexibility to choose the right start for their daughter.
Our Mid-Year Reception intake, beginning in Term 3 (July), is designed for girls turning five between May and September. At this age, many girls are ready for the exciting next step from play-based learning in ELC into more formal schooling.
This additional time in the Junior School helps build confidence, fosters friendships and strengthens foundational skills at this crucial learning stage.
