St Peter’s Girls’ School proudly welcomed some of South Australia’s brightest young minds to our School for the 2026 State da Vinci Decathlon, once again hosting the prestigious academic competition as the South Australian Chapter School.

Established in 2002, the da Vinci Decathlon is designed to celebrate the academic gifts of young students by providing a stimulating and challenging competition in the spirit of an Olympic decathlon. This year, St Peter’s Girls welcomed 25 teams each day across the Year 5/6, Year 7 and Year 9 competitions, creating a vibrant atmosphere amongst our campus as more than 200 students gathered daily to test their knowledge, creativity and collaborative skills.

The 2026 competition theme, Machines, challenged students to think critically and creatively across ten disciplines: Engineering, Mathematics, Code Breaking, Art and Poetry, Science, English, Ideation, Creative Producers, Cartography and Legacy. Working through complex and thought-provoking tasks developed by leading educators and university academics from across Australia, students were required to collaborate with their team, problem-solve and apply their learning in innovative ways.

Throughout the week, our Saints Girls teams demonstrated determination, teamwork and academic excellence, representing our School with pride. Their achievements are a testament to months of preparation and training under the expert guidance of Becca Burton-Howard and Cindy Pitkin, supported by staff from across the School who generously shared their expertise in the various decathlon disciplines.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making the 2026 da Vinci Decathlon a huge success!
